Photography!
The Ira Keller fountain in Portland taken with a Zero Image Pinhole Camera. This is what my friends and I used to call the “secret fountain.”
On a hot Portland day all the public fountains (of which Portland has many!) get really crowded, all except this one. Not only is there rarely anyone at the fountain or the park around it, but the fountain is made up of several tiers that end in a reflecting pool, allowing you to dip your feet or crawl all over in the cool mist. Or if you prefer to get soaked, you can scale up the waterfall.
I’ve always loved doing pinhole photography. The Northwest has the perfect weather for it and makes you look at the world for a different perspective (although it requires a lot of math). Plus I loved making cameras out of different types of boxes and canisters.
But without access to a development lab it is pretty hard hobby to stick with, which is why I never did it more.

My good friend Andy Daddio has a feature photo in the New York Times Sunday Edition article Text Generation Gap: U R 2 Old (JK)
Andy is one of my favorite people and one of my favorite photographers. I hired him a few years back for a Rolling Stone ad that I did. Next time you need that perfect shot, call Andy.
